The Cruise Room
Classy Drinks at a Classy Bar in Denver
The Cruise Room in the Oxford Hotel opened for business on December 6th, 1933, the day after Prohibition ended. Since that day, patrons have come to soak up the neon glow and killer martinis in this sleek art-deco hot spot. Modeled after a bar on the Queen Mary, the bar boasts original fixtures and booths, including panels featuring toasts from around the world. Some minor renovations were done during WWII, when a panel featuring Hitler was removed, but since then, it’s remained unchanged.
We hit up the Cruise Room during our last stay at the Oxford Hotel to celebrate my mom’s birthday with a stiff drink. She thoroughly enjoyed her pear cocktail. I had a wine flight (you can’t go wrong with a flight), but I wish I had tried the elderflower cocktail too. It’s on the list for next time!
Know before you go:
The bar keeps early hours – they’re open Sunday – Thursday from 4:30-11:45pm and Friday – Saturday from 4:30pm-12:45am.
Bottom line:
A lovely place to get a great drink.
