The 9 Streets
Picturesque Shopping District in Central Amsterdam
Get away from the crowds near Centraal Station and forget the chain stores along Kalverstraat; this is Amsterdam shopping in a nutshell. The Nine Streets (De Negen Straatjen) is home to Amsterdam’s best boutiques, vintage clothing stores and one-of-a-kind shops. This is the perfect way to spend a morning (especially if you were up too late the night before). Wake up, take some time over breakfast at Lanskroon and then head across the Singel and shop at your own pace. If you need to get rid of that taste left in your mouth from having too much fun last night, head here first.
After a couple hours of shopping, you will probably be hungry, so be sure to head to De Kaaskamer for the best cheeses in the world.
Know Before You Go
Most stores are open Monday-Saturday 9-6 +/- an hour, though some open late Monday mornings and some are open late Thursday evenings.
Bottom Line
If you do any shopping in Amsterdam, it should be here first.
