Portland Japanese Garden
A Slice of Japan in Portland
The Portland Japanese garden, located in Washington Park, near the International Rose Test Garden is an extremely lovely and faithful rendition of traditional Japanese gardening. Although some of the trees and plants are a little wilder and larger than those you would see in Japan, the mood and spirit of the garden is extremely authentic.
The garden winds through five distinct areas: a strolling pond garden, a tea garden, a natural garden, a flat garden, and a sand and stone garden, all very tranquil and beautiful. Be sure to allow plenty of time to visit – each of the different zones invite contemplation.
Know Before You Go:
The Garden is open to visitors seven days a week, closing only on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Check the website for opening times and admission prices.
Bottom Line:
If you love Japanese gardens, you will be stunned by the authenticity and beauty of the Portland Japanese Garden.
