No trip to Middleton is complete without a stop at The National Mustard Museum. Just down the block from Capital Brewery, this little museum packs a spicy (or sweet or sharp or however your like your mustard) punch.
The gift shop is on the first floor, and is stuffed with novelty items, clothing and of course, all the mustard you could hope for. Can’t decide among the hundreds of varieties? There’s a tasting bar for you to sample hundreds of mustards. (We’re partial to Sprecher’s mustard ourselves.) Pick up some cheese and pretzels, and you’re all set for a great snack.
Downstairs is the museum proper, complete with the Mustardpiece Theatre, and of course, The Wall of Mustard – featuring over 5,600 mustards. Sure, it’s kooky, but it’s a lot of fun.
The museum is open 10am – 5pm, 7 days a week.
Curator Barry Levenson’s enthusiasm for mustard is infectious and endearing, the museum is truly a monument to one man’s love of mustard.
