Blue Marlin
Vernazza’s Late Night Scene
Vernazza is a teeny tiny town…most of it’s 800 or so residents are tucked away in the winding streets and in the hills, and most tourists visit during the day, so when night falls, the town can get a little deserted. Cinque Terre is perfect if you want some peace and quiet, not so much if you want to go clubbing. If you do crave a touch of nightlife, you can head down to the Blue Marlin, the only late night bar in town.
However, just because it’s the only game in town, doesn’t mean it falls down on the job. The pizza is excellent, the pesto (like all Ligurian pesto) is sublime. While it’s indoor dining room is not as posh as Sandro’s, the outdoor seating offers the same gorgeous view of Vernazza, and it’s the perfect place to while away an evening over a Peroni or three. Fair warning, if you need a place to put those Peronis, the toilet is a squat.
Know before you go
The Blue Marlin is located on the main drag that stretches from the train station to the harbor, just across the street from Trattoria da Sandro.
Bottom line
This is your best (and only) late night option in Vernazza. Good thing it’s excellent.
