The Hotel Minneapolis

The perfect base for exploring the city

The Hotel Minneapolis is smack-dab in the middle of downtown, just blocks from the Mississippi River and close to transportation hubs (including a light rail station that connects to the airport), multiple bike sharing stations and parking ramps, as well as easy access to the highway.

The hotel used to be the Midland Bank, and the bones of the building remain in the high ceilings and spacious lobby. As an added bonus, several doors to the old vaults have been preserved on the ground floor and the basement, giving guests a peek at some top-notch security from the last century. In 2008, the entire building was given the boutique hotel treatment, and the stylish renovation extends from the welcoming lobby to the inviting bedrooms.

The beds are big and comfy with amazing linens. (I don’t know what the thread count is – but the sheets are seriously worth writing home about!)

The rooms are large and well appointed.

The bathrooms are also nice, with plenty of towels and great water pressure. The toiletries are from Pharmacopia and smelled divine. We made sure to pack them up each morning so housekeeping would leave us more. Shh.

Know Before You Go:

The only drawback to the hotel is the lack of complimentary in-room wifi for all guests. However, if you need to check your email, the downstairs lounge has computers and wireless available around the clock.

Bottom Line:

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Minneapolis. Its friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms and convenient location make it the perfect place to stay while visiting the Twin Cities.
