The London Eye Sees All

When you go on vacation, going to the top of things is often high on the list of sightseeing activities, and London has its fair share of tall buildings and monuments. However, the London Eye is one of the easiest, accessible and most spectacular ways to get an eagle eye view of  London.

Once you’ve waited in line for awhile (unless booked your tickets ahead, right?), you are ushered into a large glass capsule that holds up to 28 people. The last time we went, it wasn’t really busy, so there were only half a dozen a people riding with us. This was nice, because there’s more room to move around, and you get the full panoramic experience. That’s why we recommend going on the Eye during off hours (early in the morning, or late at night). The ride takes about 30 minutes, as the wheel moves slooooooowly up and around, allowing you plenty of time to drink in the sights. On a very clear day, you can see as far as Windsor Castle, but even on a foggy London morning, you can view Big Ben, Westminster, St. Paul’s, and of course the ribbon of the Thames winding through the city. Originally a temporary attraction, built to celebrate the millennium, it’s now a permanent fixture of the London skyline and shouldn’t be missed.

Know before you go:

Lines may be long, so book ahead if you hate waiting.

Bottom line:

Lovely, leisurely views of London. Unique and not to be missed.
