Ken’s Artisan Pizza

Wood-Fired Pizza in Portland

*kensIMG_1860We here at Love & Adventure love pizza and we never miss a chance to try a new place. We heard through the grapevine that Ken’s Artisan Pizza is the place to go for wood-fired pizza in Portland’s Buckman neighborhood, so we decided to give it a try. Great pizza starts with great crust. Ken’s Artisan Breads already made a name for itself with their delicious artisan breads. They began offering pizza just one evening a week, and it was so successful that they opened a full-time restaurant in 2006.

The menu is limited to about a dozen different personal pizzas and a few starters and sides made with local, in-season produce. Despite the small menu, you may have trouble deciding which pizza to order. You can try asking the waitstaff, but they like all of the pizza, too, and they will probably help you narrow it down to at best, three tasty options. Best to talk your friends into sharing so you can have your pizza and eat it, too.

Ken’s Artisan Pizza is not that large and it fills up quickly. When the weather is nice, they throw open the large, sliding glass windows to let the cool evening air in and they also put some additional seating outside, creating an lively, cafe-like atmosphere. While Ken’s only offers a few beers on tap, they more than make up for it with the quality of the beer and the ample selection of wines.

Know Before You Go

Like every other delicious eatery in Portland, Ken’s gets busy. Sadly, they do not take reservations, so get here early to put your name down.

Bottom Line

You will wish you were hungrier so you could eat more of their awesome pizza.
