Hotel Avalon Paris

A stylish steal in the city

We were almost afraid to tell you all about the Hotel Avalon because it’s such a fabulous deal in a very expensive city, and we wanted to keep it all to ourselves! However, we couldn’t do that to you, our devoted readers, so here’s the skinny on this bargain boutique hotel near the Gare du Nord.

First off, the hotel staff was stellar. They were incredibly friendly and had wonderful suggestions for restaurants and things to do in Paris. Be sure to take advantage of their knowledge and great customer service during your trip!

Second, the location is perfect for getting around Paris. The hotel is just a one minute walk from the Gare du Nord train station, which connects to the RER network, Metro lines and the Thalys & Eurostar high speed trains.

The hotel was recently renovated, and the lobby and breakfast room are bright and fresh.

The bedrooms have a more subdued and soothing palette, and the bed was extremely comfortable.

The bathroom had also been renovated and was spotless! They also had the best smelling hotel shampoo ever – I’m kicking myself for not grabbing the bottle when we checked out.

Our room also came equipped with a kitchenette complete with pots and pans. This would be an ideal hotel for families or a long stay.

Know before you go

Some reviewers say that the neighborhood near the Gare du Nord is a little rough. We felt totally safe in the area, even late at night and with our luggage. Confidential to beer geeks: the hotel is very close to Brasserie de la Goutte d’Or, Paris’s only craft brewery.

Bottom line

A Parisian bargain. You heard it here first!
