Full Sail Brewing Company

Hood River, Oregon’s Finest Beer

Full Sail BreweryWhen the Temperance Movement convinced enough people in enough states that prohibiting alcohol would be a good idea, America got the 18th Amendment. With its passage, breweries, wineries, distilleries, saloons, pubs, bars, lounges, clubs and taverns shuttered their doors and turned their employees into the unemployed. Along with losing its breweries, America lost its beer. Thirteen long, thirsty years later, Prohibition ended, and America got its beer back, but many breweries and their distinct local beers were gone forever. Full Sail Brewing Company aims to bring back the pre-Prohibition American Lager with their flagship beer The Session Lager.

The Session Lager is was our favorite of the many (many) beers we tried at Full Sail. It is smooth and has the right balance of flavors so you can just as easily drink one, or two, or three… However, they do offer a full line of beers as well as seasonal beers and experimental brews.

View from Full Sail - Hood RiverThe brewery, tasting room and pub overlook the Columbia River Gorge in Hood River, Oregon, and there is not a bad seat in the house. There is no finer way to drink timeless beer than to look at sweeping views of natural beauty. To see what brewery patrons are looking at right now as they sip their suds, check out the Gorge-Cam.

And, or course, what brewery visit would be complete without a tour? Full Sail offers free tours daily at 1,2,3 and 4pm. If you don’t have time for a full tour, be sure to grab a flight of beer and a bite to eat in their pub and tasting room and gaze out the large windows to the Columbia River Gorge below.

Know Before You Go

Hood River is the first town east of Multnomah Falls and a perfect place to grab lunch, supper or something in between. The tasting room and pub is open from 11am to 9pm daily.

Bottom Line

Don’t miss the Session Lager. We already are.
